This Tribute is supporting Marie Curie and Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Mary was diagnosed with widespread stage 4 cancer in the last week of her life. Fortunately she was unaware of this, as a series of strokes took her from us before the cancer could. Mary had suffered from bowel cancer earlier in her life, having been through three operations, but was in remission for the last 40 years. The photograph on this page was taken in May 1982 after her third cancer operation and she wrote on the back: 'Hope After hospital'. She was brought home from hospital to spend the last few days of her life in her own home surrounded and cared for by her loving family. We would like to thank the wonderful support provided by the team of District Nurses, the Rennie Grove Nurses and in particular Marie Curie who provided 9 hour overnight care and support from a nurse during Mary's last two nights with us.
